Our Demeaned to Dignity program is more than a learning stack. It is a full wrap-around program that supports humans in the most need with the services that will keep them alive along with the education that will allow them to thrive.
We are starting in the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh. After fleeing genocide in Myanmar, they sought refuge in Bangladesh and India. But the camps they are in are basically internment camps, where they cannot leave, cannot legally work, and have no citizenship from any country, so they are stuck in a stateless limbo. This leaves very few options for them, but one that unfortunately too many girls feel they must take, is to "sell their bodies". Although, to be clear, this is basically putting themselves up to be raped daily because they feel they have no other options.
Our work is stopping these young girls from being demeaned, and instead supporting them to learn education that can provide them remote work from within the camps using the smartphones that are available. Further, they are learning a full high school curriculum so they can earn a high school diploma from Global SchoolONE, a California private school.
